Overwrought Press is an independent publisher devoted to fantasy that leans dark, strange, and a little off-center.
We're drawn to stories that blur the line between genres — fantasy that brushes up against horror, weird fiction that carries emotional weight, and worlds that feel as real as they are unsettling. Whether it's a crumbling kingdom, a haunted stretch of Texas highway, or something that doesn't have a name yet, we're interested in fiction that lingers.
We don't believe fantasy needs to be clean or comforting. We believe it should risk something.
What Drives Us

We're not chasing trends. Every title we publish is a deliberate choice — work that feels distinct, carries weight, and stays with the reader after the final line.

We're especially interested in immersive atmosphere and writing that feels intentional — stories that know what they're doing and aren't afraid to follow through.

Some of our favorite stories are hard to categorize. That's usually a good sign. We're a home for fiction that doesn't quite fit anywhere else.

Overwrought Press was founded by two writers who care deeply about storytelling, craft, and the strange corners of speculative fiction.
They started the press to create a space for the kinds of stories they wanted to read — stories that don't always have a clear home, but deserve one.
